Frequently Asked Questions

You have received an invitation to an Interview Process (IP) Day and want to prepare and do the best you can. Below are the most common questions we are asked about the day, in order of frequency. The details of the day will be on the invitation email. Finally, this website has multiple resources to help you in your search an success in self-employed sales.

Who makes the offer decision at Interview?
The company directors. The owner of director of the business is always present and makes the final decisions. Success Moves hosts the interview event.

What are the interview questions I am likely to be asked?
There is a separate section of this website titled ‘Interview Questions’ The most important advice is to answer truthfully. Answering what you think the interview wants to hear will be spotted easier than you think.

Will there be any numerical or verbal psychometric tests?
No, we do not use any type of written or online psychometric testing. We prefer to give you the chance to demonstrate and prove your skills in person.

How many candidates am I competing with on the Interview Process Day?
It varies depending on how many positions the client employer has available.

What is the dress code?
Smart business attire. Suit and ties for gentleman, the equivalent for ladies. First impressions count.

Do I have to pay anything?
Only travel expenses and your own lunch if a hotel rather than zoom meeting. Bottled water will be provided and there is no charge for anything else. There will be nothing available for purchase from Success Moves Sales or our client. We never represent companies that charge for training or for that matter anything else.

When will I know if I got the contract or not?
You will find this out on the interview process day itself. On rare occasions if this varies, this will be highlighted in both the advertisement and invitation letter.

Can you tell me the company name?
Usually yes, but sometimes a client asks us to keep it confidential for the following reasons.
1. Even when we ask people not to, some candidates will pester the company directly, to try and gain advantage. This wastes their time and in the past we have received complaints.
2. Recruitment agencies and other suppliers also detect this information from advertisements and use it as sales leads to pester the company.
3. Companies often want their recruitment activity to be confidential from competitors and/or internal staff.
4. Candidates who are not selected may take negative actions and slander the client company.

If you have any companies you specifically do not wish to be interviewed by please advise us.

The onwer and/or directors will be there in person on the day, present all of your questions and answer all questions openly including confidential information about the company’s plans, new products etc. The advertisement will cover the main details about the job role and prospects. The onus is on you to satisfy yourself about the company being right for you. Remember, whereas you have to sell yourself to them, the employing company equally have to sell themselves to you.

I cannot make the interview date can I make an alternative appointment?
If it is a date when we are interviewing all applicants on the same day no. We interview all applicants on the day, and encourage clients to make decisions on the day so that everyone knows where they stand. Thus, we cannot ask everyone to reschedule and the venue to fit around the needs of an individual. Some of our high growth clients do have repeat events at later dates. Of course we also for clients have individual interviews which are firstly telephone interviews.

Can you send me a job description?
There is always one available on this website.  If you have not received this please email for a copy.  Please also refer to the original advertisement you applied for which contains the details. It will also be attached to the email thread with the interview invitation letter. Full details will be given to you on the company, its culture, style, personalities etc when you arrive for interview.

What preparation should I do before the Interview?
Read through all the material provided on this website and check out our YouTube channel for more advice. Arrive to the interview smartly dressed with a positive determined attitude. Look at our techniques on interview confidence.

I have a friend who is interested, can they come?
Please ask them to send us their CV first for consideration.

Can I do an interview over the telephone?
No, because both you and the client company need to meet each other in person and be judged fairly relative to other applicants on the day. We sometimes do first filtering interviews this way and you will have been informed of this.

Do you or your client company pay travel expenses?
No, neither Success Moves Sales nor the client company cover this.

Is there a minimum recruitment age?
Usually not but sometimes a minimum requirement, depending on the type of product sold by the employing company.

Is experience in this line of work required?
Please refer to the original advertisement, if it does not specifically ask for this then there is no prior experience required.

Do I need a degree to apply?
Please refer to the original advertisement for this information, if it does not specifically ask for a degree then it is not essential.

What hours will I have to work?
You choose your own hours and days in a self-employed sales contract.

Can I work part time?
Only if this is specifically mentioned in the advertisement. This is often available.

Are we paid weekly or monthly?
Usually monthly unless this is quoted differently in the advertisement.

What are the full details of the remuneration?
These vary and usually I have 3, 4 or 5 different elements and normally always a residual. See the specific job description which will have this and an expected earnings matrix for below and above average expected earnings.

Will you sponsor me for a work permit?
No. We are  not in a position top do so. This is a self-employed contract.
